Salóme Halldórsdóttir was born in Ísafjarðarsýsla on August 17, 1886. She died in Manitoba on May 31, 1970.
Unmarried and childless.
Salóme came to the West in 1887 with her parents, Halldór Halldórsson and Kristín Pálsdóttir. They settled in the Lundar Settlement in Manitoba where Salóme grew up. She followed a life of education, went to Winnipeg and studied at Wesley College and the University of Manitoba. There she completed her BA degree in languages in 1910 and then went on to further studies in French at Middlebury College in Vermont and Paris. She returned to Manitoba where she took up school administration and teaching. She was a politician, sitting in the provincial assembly of Manitoba 1935-41.
