Sigrún was the daughter of Jón Jónsson and Guðbjörg Guðmundsdóttir, early settlers in the Garðar Settlement. Sigþór’s parents were Jón Sigurðsson and Baldvina Baldvinsdóttir, who came west to N. Dakota in 1890 and lived in Cavalier. Sigþór was a farmer in the Garðar Settlement where he and Sigrún lived the rest of their lives.
