Sigurlaug Rafnsdóttir was born in Gullbringusýsla on May 14, 1877. She died in Seattle on September 20, 1961.

Spouse: Sófónías Björnsson b. November 6, 1879 in N. Þingeyjarsýsla, d. February 20, 1931 in Seattle, Washington. He took the name Zophonias Johnson in the west.

Children: 1. Sigurbjörn b. in Seattle on November 24, 1920.

Sófónías came west to Canada in 1886 with his parents, Björn Jónsson and Sigríður Emilía Halldórsdótti of N. Þingeyjarsýsla. They settled in Calgary, Alberta. Sigurlaug was the daughter of Rafn Guðmundsson and Guðrún Þóroddsdóttir. Sófónías grew up in his parent’s home in Canada and was a printer.  He fought in the Boer War in South Africa at the turn of the century, returned to his homeland in Alberta, but in 1906 moved west to the Pacific Ocean and settled in Seattle. He lived there until his dying days. Sigurlaug lived with her son in Seattle.
