Ágúst Theodore Björnsson was born in Edinborg, N. Dakota on July 8, 1889. He died in Winnipeg on January 6, 1948. He was known as Dr. Ágúst Blöndal in the west.

Ágúst grew up in his parents’ home, first in N. Dakota for 3 years, then in Portland, Oregon another 3 years. The road led them to Winnipeg. He attended school there and enrolled in the Manitoba Medical College where he graduated in 1913. He was a doctor in Lundar for a while before going to Europe for postgraduate studies in 1921. He was in London, Edinburg, Glasgow and Paris before returning to Winnipeg where he worked for the rest of his life. More about Dr. August in Íslensk arfleifð (Icelandic Heritage) below. Guðrún was the daughter of Stefán Pétursson and Geirþrúður Jónsdóttir in the Argyle settlement.
