Alexander Davíðsson was born in Dalasýsla in 1852. Died January 13, 1928 at Betel Home in Gimli. He took the name Alex Davidson in the west.
Unmarried and childless.
He was the son of Davíð Bjarnason, a farmer at Hól in Dalasýsla and his wife, Þórdís Jónsdóttir. Alexander moved with his parents to Gilhaga in Strandasýsla. He moved from there and was a worker at his birthplace in Dalasýsla in 1880, but came west from Fornahvammur in Mýrasýsla in 1887. He arrived in New York and from there went west to Minnesota. In Duluth, he no doubt met his sister Guðrún, who was then newly married to Kristján Jónsson. They came west to Winnipeg in 1886 and were married there. They spent some time in N. Dakota but then moved to Duluth in 1888. Alexander is registered as living with the widow of Guðlaugur Dahlman in Duluth in 1905. Later he moved to Gimli, Manitoba.
