Andrea was the daughter of Jónas Tryggvi Ingjaldsson and Hólmfríður Andrésardóttir who settled in N. Dakota in 1886. Andrea grew up in the Akra Settlement but graduated in Winnipeg. Edward was the son of Eiríkur Jónsson and Vilborg Stefánsdóttir who came west in 1878. They lived in Minneota, Minnesota, moved to Duluth a few years before the turn of the century, and then went on to the Akra Settlement in N. Dakota. They took land in Manitoba in 1901 and lived in the Árdals-Framnes Settlement.
