Andrés came west alone in 1888 and settled in the Argyle Settlement in 1893. From there, he moved to Baldur and worked as a book binder. He then moved to the Vatnabyggð Settlement in Saskatchewan. Andrés’ sisters and wife came west with his widowed mother, Helga Hallgrímsdóttir, in 1888.
