Jóhannes came west with his four children in 1882. Anna arrived a year later. They traveled to Minnesota and settled in the Lincoln County Settlement. Jóhannes traveled back to Iceland in 1907 but did not return; he died in Reykjavík.
Anna had a daughter with her first husband, Arnfríður Soffía Ásmundsdóttir, b. c1853. She came to the western home in 1882.
