Anna Kristín Pétursdóttir was born in Skagafjarðarsýsla in 1866.

They came west to Canada in 1888 and Sigurður moved to N. Dakota to his sister, Hallfríður Magnúsdóttir, and her husband, Þórarinn Guðmundsson. He moved west to Calgary with them and Sigurður married Anna Kristín there. In 1894, Sigurður built a house on his land in the Icelandic Settlement, but later moved and took land north of there. They lived there after that. Most of Anna’s siblings came west: the brothers Stefán Guðlaugur and Sveinn lived in Winnipeg, Elín Petrína was married to Albert Þiðriksson in Húsavík in New Iceland, and Guðlaug Sesselja married Friðrik Friðriksson in the Argyle Settlement.
