Anna Sigríður came west with her parents, Sveinn Guðmundsson and Þorbjörg Guðmundsdóttir, who came west in 1894. Jón Ágúst grew up in the home of his parents, Björn H. Jónsson and Guðfinna Sigurðardóttir, who came west in 1886. The family first settled in Saskatchewan but then moved to Winnipeg. Jón Ágúst and Anna Sigríður met in Winnipeg but then moved from there to Lundar and lived there the rest of their lives. Jón was a carpenter and built many houses in Lundar, Oak Point, and in the Lundar area.
