Jóhannes and Anna came west to Ontario, Canada in 1878 and were there until 1881 when they moved to N. Dakota. There Anna died. Jóhannes moved to Roseau, Minnesota in 1895 and from there to the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan in 1907. He took land in the Wynyard Settlement.
