Sigurjón accompanied his parents, Sigurður Sigurðsson Mýrdal and Valgerður Jónsdóttir, south to the Pembina Settlement in N. Dakota and west to Victoria, British Columbia. From there he made his way to Point Roberts, Washington. Anna came west to Canada in 1900 with her mother, Ingibjörg Hannesdóttir. They were in Manitoba until 1907, then they moved west to Point Roberts, Washington with her twin sister Anna and her husband, Ingvar Guðmundsson Goodman. The twin sisters were both named Anna because only one of them was expected to survive.
