Arnheiður Guttormsdóttir was born on December 22, 1904 in Otto in the Shoal Lake settlement (Grunnavatnsbyggð) in Manitoba. She died in Winnipeg on March 15, 1962. She took the last name Eyjólfsson with marriage.

Spouse: Friðrik Frank Eyjólfsson b. September 24, 1900 in the Fljóts settlement in New Iceland.

Arnheiður was the daughter of Guttormmur J Guttormsson, poet, and Jensína Júlía Daníelsdóttir.  She moved with them to Riverton where she graduated from elementary school in 1920. She worked first at the town’s electric company, then at the post office and became postmaster 1925-28. She was a telephone operator from 1925-50. She was very involved in the social work of her countrymen in Riverton, secretary of the Brethren congregation, president of the Icelandic club, and superintendent of the Sunday school. Finally, she was the fjallkona of New Iceland on June 17, 1944 and at Íslendingadagurinn in Gimli in 1956.
