Árni Hannesson was born in Skagafjarðarsýsla in 1845.
Spouse: Margrét Guðrún Hallgrímsdóttir b. in Húnavatnssýsla in 1852.
Children: 1. Eggert 2. Jón 3. Hallgrímur 4. Óli 5. Tryggvi. Two sons, Hannes and George, died in childhood.
They came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1888 and moved west to the Þingvalla Settlement in Saskatchewan. They first lived in Churchbridge but then bought land in the community in 1891. Eight years later, in 1899, they moved east to Binscarth, Manitoba where they leased land for almost a year. In the spring of 1900, they bought two land parcels in the middle of the Big Point Settlement and lived there until 1926, when they sold their land and moved to Langruth.
