Árni Helgason was born on October 8, 1876 in Mýrasýsla. He died at the Borg Nursing Home in Mountain, N. Dakota on November 17, 1953. He took the name Earnest Goodman in the west.
Spouse: November 2, 1896 Elísabet Ásgrímsdóttir b. 1879 in Skagafjarðarsýsla, d. at Borg, April 6, 1961. She took the first name Theodora (Dora) in the west.

Árni came west in 1881 with his parents, Helgi Guðmundsson and Helga Eyvindsdóttir. Elísabet came west with her father, Ásgrímur Sigurðsson, and her brother Benedikt in 1887. Árni and Elísabet moved to the Mouse River community and lived near Upham in McHenry County in N. Dakota.
