Árni Jónsson was born in Strandasýsla on October 25, 1847. He died in the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð) on May 1, 1930. He was known as A. A. Johnson in the west.
Spouse: September 22, 1877 Valgerður Einarsdóttir b. 1848 in Ísafjarðarsýsla, d. in the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð) on November 29, 1932.
Children: 1. Jóhanna Guðbjörg b. May 5, 1878 3. Guðrún Margrét, twin b. May 5, 1878, drowned on August 16, 1880 4. Þorgerður b. October 11, 1879, d. April 30, 1898 in Brandon 5. Árni Valdimar b. September 6, 1883 6. Steinn b. May 27, 1886, d. February 18, 1920 in the Lakes Settlement. Árni had a son, Jón, b. January 4, 1868 with Guðrún Guðmundsdóttir from Kirkjuból in Staðarsveit.
Árni came west to Canada with his family in 1890. They came to Winnipeg, Manitoba and then settled in Brandon in the spring of 1891. In 1903 they moved west to the Pacific and lived in Ballard, a suburb of Seattle for more than a year. They moved from there to the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan in 1905 and settled near Mozart. They lived there the rest of their lives.
