Arni emigrated west in 1888; Sigríður in 1887. They met in Winnipeg and married there. Arni bought land near Glenboro in the Argyle Settlement in 1890 and lived there for eight years. They moved back to Winnipeg and lived there for four years. In 1902 they moved west and bought land south of Blaine, Washington. After Arni died, Sigríður sold the land and moved to Blaine.
