Ása came west in 1888 with her parents from Dalasýsla, Jón Ólafsson and Kristbjörg Þergþórsdóttir, who settled in the Þingvalla Settlement in Saskatchewan. Arngrímur came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1876 and moved to New Iceland and moved from there west to the Þingvalla Settlement in Saskatchewan in 1888. They lived on their land until 1910 but then Arngrímur died. Ása sold the land and moved to Wynyard, Saskatchewan.
