Ásgeir came west with his parents to New Iceland in 1887. Ingunn was born in the Hnausa Settlement, the daughter of Kristjón Finnsson and his second wife, Þórunn Björg Eiríksdóttir. Ásgeir moved to Arborg 1910 and started his family there.
