Ásgeir Vídalín Baldvinsson was born in 1851 in Húnavatnssýsla. He signed his name A. V. H. Baldwin in the west.

Spouse: Katrín Gísladóttir b. in Mýrasýsla in 1867.

He emigrated west to Ontario with his parents and siblings in 1873. He parents were Baldvin Helgason and Soffía Jósafatsdóttir. He travelled with them to the Icelandic settlement in Rosseau in Muskoka the same year and lived there until 1881 when they all moved to the Garðar Settlement in N. Dakota.  They returned to Rosseau in 1886 and bought Davíð Davíðsson’s farm. In 1908,  Ásgeir moved west to Edmonton, Alberta and settled west of the community.  The road then took him west to the Pacific where Ásgeir settled in Campell on Vancouver Island.
