Áskell Sigtryggsson was born in Kasthvammur in S. Þingeyjarsýsla on April 19, 1884. He died in San Francisco on June 14, 1962.
Unmarried and childless.
He came west in 1907 with his parents, Sigtryggur Kristjánsson and Anna Benediktsdóttir. He first came to Winnipeg, Manitoba, then moved the same year to Blaine, Washington. The family moved to Seattle, but Áskell continued to San Francisco and had a good job there in 1926. He considered returning to Iceland with his brother, Benedikt, for a few years but nothing came of it.
