Aurora was the daughter of Þorsteinn Þorláksson, son of Þorlákur Jónsson from Stóra Tjörn and Hlaðgerður Grímsdóttir Laxdal. Einar grew up in the area near Leslie in Vatnabyggð and started helping with the farm at a young age. He started his own but left and devoted himself to retail and tool sales in Leslie for almost 20 years. He became a farmer there again around 1949.
