Axel Þorgeirsson was born in Eyjafjarðarsýsla in 1883. He died in the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan in 1973. He took the name Alec Thorgeirsson in the west.

He came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba with his parents, Þorgeir Guðmundsson and Sigríður Ólafsdóttir, and siblings in 1887. His half-brother Ólafur S. Þorgeirsson worked at the Almanak in Winnipeg.
Axel took land in the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan but sold it and worked as a driver in the towns of Kandahar and Dafoe in the same settlement.
