Baldvin was the son of Sigurður Kráksson and Kristín Þorsteinsdóttir who came west in 1878. They lived on the farm furthest south of Mountain in N. Dakota. Baldvin grew up there and lived there with his mother after his father’s death. They moved north to the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan in 1912, where Kristín bought land north of Wynyard. She returned to Mountain, but Baldvin continued to live on his land. He lived his last years in Seattle.
