They emigrated west to Ontario, Canada in 1873. He was one of the founders of the Icelandic settlement in Rosseau, Ontario and lived there until 1881. He moved west to Pembina County in N. Dakota and bought land in the Garðar Settlement. He spent time in Mountain but the road led him to Selkirk, Manitoba. Next, he moved to Crookston, Minnesota and then went west around the turn of the century.
