Benedikt Björnsson was b. Feb. 21, 1817 in N. Þingeyjarsýsla. He died on Dec. 10, 1892 in Argyle, Manitoba.
Spouse: June 10, 1844 Gudny Kristjansdottir, b. May 8, 1820 in N. Þingeyjarsýsla; d. May 23, 1915 in Nordland Township, MN.

The couple came west in 1883 and settled in the Lincoln County Settlement in Minnesota. They later moved to Laurier, Manitoba in Canada and later to the Argyle Settlement. Guðný moved back to the Lincoln County Settlement after Benedikt died and lived with her daughter Sigríður Westdal. The children emigrated at different times.
