Bjarnína (Ína) was the daughter of Þorsteinn Þorsteinsson and Anna Ingibjörg Jónsdóttir who came west in 1892. Jón Helgi was the son of Benedikt Þórarinsson whose father, and Jón Helgi’s grandfather, was Sigfús Bjarnason, who came west in 1879 with his wife and children. Jón moved to Elfros, Saskatchewan with his parents in 1907 where he became a barber for a while and later a grain merchant and farmer.
