Björn came to the west in 1888 and was first in N. Dakota. His brother Eiríkur came west in 1890 and together they went west to the Pacific in 1891 and settled in Victoria on Vancouver Island. They moved from there in 1894 and settled at Point Roberts, Washington. Björn bought 10 acres from Guðmundur Samúelsson and lived there the rest of his life.
