Björn Sigurðsson was born in S. Múlasýsla in 1868. He died in Oak Point, Manitoba on April 28, 1944.

Björn came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1883 with his parents, Sigurður Björnsson and Guðfinna Oddsdóttir, and siblings. They settled in the Hnausa Settlement. Björn and Jóhanna were joined in marriage in New Iceland and lived in the Fljóts Settlement, but moved to the Lundar Settlement in 1903. Jóhanna came west to New Iceland in 1888 with her three children and a foster son, Eirík Þorsteinsson, 13 years of age.
