Björn Sigurðsson was born in S. Þingeyjarsýsla on May 7, 1869 and died in Winnipeg in 1961. He took the last name Dahlman in the west.

Björn came west alone to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1888 and lived in the Argyle Settlement. He worked in various places during his early years in both Canada and the United States. He returned to the Argyle Settlement and settled there. They started farming on Björn’s land in Argyle, but in 1909 they moved to Winnipeg where Björn worked as a carpenter. In 1920, he moved north to New Iceland and settled in Riverton.
