Bóas Arnbjörnsson was born on August 3, 1855 in S. Múlasýsla. He died in Spanish Fork on March 28, 1908. He took the name Boas Anderson in the west.

Bóas came west alone to America in 1883, the same year that Björnlaug emigrated with her parents and siblings. It is impossible to say whether they knew each other before or when they went west, but a source in Utah says that they came there together in 1885. Boas worked as a carpenter for a while, then worked on whatever was available, and he was often away from home for long periods of time. However, their home was always in Spanish Fork.
