Edward was the son of Eiríkurs Jónsson and Vilborg Stefánsdóttir who came west in 1878. They lived in Minneota, Minnesota, moved to Duluth a few years before the turn of the century and then moved to the Akra Settlement in N. Dakota. They took land in Manitoba in 1901 and lived in the Árdals-Framnes Settlement. Andrea grew up in the Akra Settlement in N. Dakota but graduated in Winnipeg.
