Efraim Benediktsson was born in Copenhagen on November 6, 1853. He died on September 21, 1878. He took the name Ephraim Hanson in Utah.
Ephraim was the son of Benedikt Hannesson and Ragnhildar Stefánsdóttir. They moved to Copenhagen in 1852 and lived there until 1859. They then moved to Omaha, Nebraska where Efraim’s father died. He went with his mother and sister to Salt Lake City, Utah in 1862. By the 1890 census, they were living in Spanish Fork.
