Einar Árnason was born in Winnipeg on June 7, 1910. He died on June 16, 2000 in Winnipeg.
Spouse: January 27, 1940 Kristjana Þóra Jóhannsdóttir b. in Barðastrandarsýsla on October 20, 1905, d. in Winnipeg in 1997. She took the name Þóra (Thora) Arnason in the west.
Children: Adopted daughters 1. Yvonne b. January 13, 1941 2. Jan Elizabeth b. October 17, 1949.
Einar was the son of Reverend Guðmundur Árnason who came west in 1901 and Sigríður Einarsdóttir who came west in 1890. Einar moved with his parents to Oak Point, Manitoba in 1919 where he grew up and started fishing in Lake Manitoba with his father when he was young. He graduated in engineering from the University of Manitoba in 1937 and was an engineer with the Canadian Railway Association C.N.R. in Winnipeg and Toronto 1937-1939. He was in the Canadian Army 1939-1945 and received several awards. He founded his own company, Plaxlab Products, in Winnipeg. Þóra came west with her parents, Jóhann Magnússon and Ólöf Össurardóttir, in 1911. See more about Einar below, Icelandic heritage.
