They emigrated from Iceland in 1887 to Ontario, Canada. Went to Muskoka District where Ingveldur Guðmundsdottir and her husband and children had settled in 1878. Einar found work in the logging industry late in the autumn in Midland, Ontario. Early in 1888 he was hit by a falling tree which led to his death shortly afterwards. Information regarding the fate of the family is missing except for Vigfus. He resided in Ontario all his life.
