They emigrated west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1878 and moved to the Icelandic River Settlement in 1879. In 1884 they went across Lake Winnipeg to Sand River where they lived the next four years but in 1888 they settled on a land near Gimli in New Iceland and lived there onwards.
