Einar Jónsson was born in Rangárvallasýsla on August 16, 1839. He died on May 25, 1900 in the Westmann Islands (Vestmannaeyjar).  He took the last name Johnson in Utah.

Spouse: 1) November 5, 1871 Guðrún Jónsdóttir b. July 24, 1849, d. May 8, 1931. 2) August 5, 1885 Ingveldur Árnadóttir b. June 28, 1867 d. March 2, 1948 in Raymond, Alberta, Canada, they divorced 3) 1889 Margrét Guðmundsdóttir b. June 29, 1862, d. April 21, 1904.

Einar emigrated west to Spanish Fork, Utah, as a master carpenter. He became a missionary and returned to the Westmann Islands in 1889. He did not return to Utah, as he suffered severe injuries in the Islands and died in 1900.
