Eiríkur came to the West in 1900 with his parents. He lived with them in many places in Manitoba and Saskatchewan and later in Vancouver. When he was young, he worked in farming and logging, but gradually he became interested in massage and naturopathy. He went to secondary school, graduated and started practicing medicine in 1926.
