He came west in 1887 to Winnipeg, Manitoba but settled in the Hólar Settlement (Tantallon) in Saskatchewan. Guðbjörg also came west to Winnipeg in 1887. She moved to Red Deer on the northern side of Lake Manitoba in 1907 and from there to Winnipegosis in 1913.
