Elín Þóra Einarsdóttir was born on June 4, 1870 in N. Þingeyjarsýsla. She died in Minnesota on September 5, 1956. She took the name Ellen Thora Anderson in the west.

Elín came west across the sea in 1887 with her mother, Kristín Þorvaldsdóttir. Elín’s brother, Þorvaldur, has settled in Floodwood in St. Louis County in Minnesota and there mother and daughter also settled. Elín lived there the rest of her life.
