Emma Jóhanna Elín Jónsdóttir was born in Narrows, Manitoba on July 8, 1891.
Unmarried and childless.
Emma, the twin sister of Annie Þórdís, was the daughter of Jón Sigurðsson and Pálína Þórðardóttir who came west in 1888. They settled in Narrows and there Emma grew up. She graduated from high school in Stonewell, Manitoba and earned a teaching degree from Manitoba Normal School in 1918. She taught 25 years in Eriksdale, 7 in Arborg, 8 in Morden, lastly 10 years in Winnipeg.
