Erlendur Árnason was born on August 11, 1844 in Borgarfjarðarsýsla. He died in Salt Lake City on September 12, 1918. He had the name Erlundur in Utah.
Spouse: 1. Jóhanna Jónsdóttir b. March 10, 1856. They divorced. 2) August 19, 1893 Katrín Jónsdóttir b. April 4, 1867 in Dalasýsla, d. January 17, 1944 in Blaine, Washington. They broke up.

Erlendur came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1876 and settled in New Iceland. He moved from there to N. Dakota but in 1880 he moved to Utah and lived in Spanish Fork. He studied goldsmithing and calligraphy. After divorcing Johanna, he moved to Scofield and Winter Quarters in Carbon County, where he worked as a miner. He moved back to Spanish Fork and lived there with Katrín. He ended up alone in Salt Lake City.
