Erlendur Snorrason was born in New Iceland in 1889. He had the name Erlendur S. Johnson in the west.
His parents were Snorri Jónsson and Kristjana Sigurðardóttir pioneers in New Iceland.
Erlendur grew up in New Iceland, but in 1909 he moved west to the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan and took land in the Kandahar/Dafoe settlement. He later sold his land to Kristján Th. Jónasson.
