Eyjólfur Magnússon was born in N. Múlasýsla on September 22, 1822. He died in New Iceland on October 24, 1907.
Spouse: 1) June 24, 1845 Steinunn Stefánsdóttir b. October 24, 1823, d. 1864. 2) 1865 Vilborg Jónsdóttir b. ca. 1828, d. June, 16, 1920.
Children: With Steinunn 1. Magnús b. 24. apríl, 1846, d. in Norway 1878 2. Stefán b. December 24, 1849 3. Sigurður b. March 7, 1852 3. Þorsteinn b. November 9, 1854 (emigrated later)) 4. Sesselja b. October 15, 1856. Three children died in Iceland. With Vilborg: 1. Gunnsteinn b. April 2, 1866 2. Jón b. October 7, 1868, d. in Iceland February 20, 1870.
Eyjólfur and Vilborg came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1876 and settled in the Icelandic River Settlement in New Iceland. Eyjólfur’s son, Stefán, had come to New Iceland a year earlier with the first group of settlers. Stefán bought land for his father and brothers Sigurð and Þorstein. Eyjólfur and Vilborg settled on their farm and named it Unaland where they spent the rest of their days.
