Friðgeir Jóakimsson was b. 1843 in N. Múlasýsla. He took the name Bardal in the west from the valley of his first wife’s birthplace. He died in 1899.
Spouse: 1) 1877 Sigríður Jónsdóttir b. 1852 in Bárðardal in S. Þingeyjarsýsla. She died in 1880 giving birth to twins on the ship going to N. America. The babies died too. 2) Guðlaug Jónsdóttir b. July 7, 1851 in S. Múlasýsla; d. Oct. 11, 1943.

Friðgeir emigrated west in 1880 with his wife Sigríður. She died on the way to North America. He bought land in the Lincoln County Settlement.
