Friðhólm was the son of Benedikt Kristjánsson and Björg Auðunardóttir of Finnsstaðir in the Fljóts settlement. He was a shopkeeper and accountant in Riverton. Kristín was the daughter of Hallgrímur Valdimar Friðriksson and Anna Sigríður Pétursdóttir in the Geysir settlement. Kristín was a teacher in 1922 and taught for 20 years, 11 of them in Riverton.
