Friðjón Kristinn Björnsson was born on November 27, 1889 in Hallson, N. Dakota. He took the name John Christie in the west.
Spouse: Guðbjörg Bjarnadóttir b. 1887 in N. Þingeyjarsýsla. She married Þorsteinn Bergsson Mýrdal who died in Manitoba on December 27, 1921.

Friðjón was the son of Björn Kristjánsson and his future wife Sigurlaug Einarsdóttir who was born in Þistilfjörður on November 12, 1867. Friðjón grew up in Manitoba in his mother’s home. His father died in N. Dakota before 1900. They lived in Glenboro and the Argyle Settlement. Guðbjörg came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1905.
