Gróa Magnúsdóttir was born in Árnessýsla in 1854. She died in Lundar, Manitoba in 1936.

Spouse: Sigurbjörn Guðmundsson b. in Dalasýsla on January 5, 1850, d. in the Lundar Settlement on November 12, 1930.

Children: Sigurbjörn had no children with Gróa, but she had a daughter earlier, Halldóra, who Sigurbjörn raised as his own.

Gróa came west across the sea with her parents, Magnús Einarsson and Ragnhildur Magnúsdóttir, in 1887. Her brother, Magnús, had come to Winnipeg a year earlier, then moved on to the Þingvalla Settlement in Saskatchewan. There he took land for himself and for his father. Gróa visited there in 1887.  Sigurbjörn and Guðrún, his first wife, came west with their daughters to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1883. The journey proved to be too much for Guðrún, and she died in Winnipeg just weeks after arriving there. Sigurbjörn placed his daughters with friends in the city while he worked on the railway outside of the city. Gróa and Sigurbjörn took land in the Lundar Settlement and lived there the rest of their lives.
