Guðbjörg came to the West in 1899, was first in Winnipeg but moved a year later to Seattle, Washington. She moved as a newlywed to Blaine and lived there. Andrés came to the West before the turn of the century and first lived with relatives in Poplar Park, Manitoba. In 1902 he moved to Blaine and got a job there in retail. After a few years, he opened his own store and later set up and ran a real estate agency.
