Guðbjörg was the daughter of Ólafur Jónsson and Valgerður Felixdóttir who came west to Winnipeg in 1886. It is unclear whether Guðbjörg came with them or arrived later. Jón came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba with his parents, Jónas Jónsson and Björg Sigurðardóttir, in 1887. Guðbjörg and Jón moved to Winnipegosis in 1902 and lived there a year. They moved to Winnipeg where Jón became a police officer.
